Working as a Mechanical Engineer on Shark R&D, helping develop innovative Shark products for the home
As a Mechanical Engineer on the Shark R&D team, I have primarily been working to bring a product to market in a new product category for Shark. I began as one of two engineers on the project, and as the cross-functional team has grown, I have utilized my knowledge of the new product area to educate new team members and drive innovation.
I executed teardowns of competitive products and worked to understand what potential levers existed for improving performance. I also worked to design, develop, and execute test methods for evaluating products and product features in this new category for Shark—leading multiple workstreams to help develop innovative new technology for this product.

Takeaways.
It has been a rewarding challenge working in an unfamiliar space for Shark. Even for an established consumer brand, the process has been all about failing fast—continuing to learn from each failed attempt to help produce a brand-new, innovative product.
I have also gained important experience communicating with people across leadership levels and disciplines, learning when to dive into detail about each test we have run, and when to focus more on the key learnings and next steps to bring senior Shark leadership up to speed on many different workstreams.
My specific project work is protected under NDA until the products come to market. I will keep this page up to date as the product is launched in Fall 2023!
